Apache RTR 250 - TVS Draken Concept

The TVS Apache 250 is likely to be launched in the next 18 months and will draw heavy inspiration from the Draken. It will be a naked bike, weighing less thanks to the use of an aluminium trellis frame. This chassis is sure to give the Apache RTR 250 stellar dynamics. The 250cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve liquid-cooled engine showcased on the Draken outputs an unbelievable 38.50 PS of power and 23 Nm of torque, expect the same to be tamed on the Apache 250 with around 30 horses on tap.

TVS will continue to target the urban youth with the Apache 250 and the design will evolve from the current Apache. The Draken gets some interesting bits like a full LED headlamp with DRLs, active matrix digital console, bar end mirrors, ABS, petal discs, 120 mm front tyre, 160 mm rear tyre, offset monoshock, reverse free flow exhaust, race ergonomics, etc. Expect some of these features to make it to the Apache 250, which is likely to be priced under Rs. 1.50 lakhs.

The bike comes with a single cylinder engine having a displacement of 250cc, and capable of producing a power of 30bhp@9500rpm. The suspension in front of the TVS Apache RTR 250 consists of telescopic forks while the rear suspension would be somewhat rectangular swing arm variety.

Bajaj Pulsar 400 CS

Technical Specifications of Bajaj Pulsar 400 CS
Type Motorcycle
Engine Displacement 375.00 cc
Engine Type 4 valve, triple spark with fuel injection
Cooling System Liquid Cooled
Transmission 6 speed

The Bajaj Pulsar 400 CS (or Cruiser Sports) is the streetfighter variant of the Pulsar 400 SS and shares most of the mechanicals and features with the bike. It is powered by the 375cc engine found on the KTM 390 Duke but features Bajaj’s patented triple-spark technology, the bike also features inverted front forks, mono-shock suspension, ABS, radially-mounted brake calipers, among other features.

The bike showcased at the Expo was pretty well put together and fit-and-finish showed that the bike was production ready. Though Bajaj has not revealed much about the bike, here are some pointers about the Pulsar 400 CS:
  • The headlamp is consists of multiple elements, including HID and LEDs
  • The bike features inverted front forks
  • ABS is available, the biek featured single-disc units at the front and rear
  • The seat is a single unit though there is a slight step between the front section and the rear section
  • The bike features an two all-digital instrument cluster, the one above the handlebars features the rev-counter, the one on the fuel-tank (yep, there is a secondary smaller one) which shows the speed and gear-position.
  • The bike does not feature clip-on handlebars, which is surprising
  • The tail-lamp is not as radical as the one on the Pulsar SS, the ones on the SS look like a natural progression to those found on the current lineup of Pulsars
  • The exhaust is similar to the one found on the 400 SS, but features a dual-tone cover
